Zoe Rubens lives within her art form. She moves effortlessly f rom metal to ceramics to fine print drawings full of detail , excitement and precision. In a glance she can capture detail that you or I might miss. Spitting camels claim centre stage in the her work alongside spiralling staircases that lead to who knows where. Women are depicted in ball gowns or bathing sensuously. Bird movements are acutely observed. The spaces between theses eccentrically - placed objects hold you in their grip. Can space tell a story? Is what’s not said more important than the words we speak? In Zoe’s work it most definitely is.
