Iconic, simple, evocative, contemplative, noble, timeless, thoughtful, melancholic, beautiful, strange, graceful, elegant, dynamic, powerful, calm, joyous, humorous, balanced, essence, humanity. Words, to describe my various ceramics, and words or ideas, that are imbued in my ceramic pieces.
I cut out slabs of clay, incise and stretch, form and join, pour on, sponge or brush on glaze, then experiment with metal oxides to discover the pieces anew … awaiting in the kiln.
Kate studied at Ipswich Art School (1978-80), 3D design at Brighton Polytechnic (1980-83), ceramics at Cardiff institute (1983-84).
Taught ceramics, drawing and 3D, at Suffolk College from 1988 until 2011.
Exhibits her sculpture in galleries, widely, across the country and in London.
