Jack Crampton

Jack Crampton trained in Law and worked in Publishing before escaping to Chelsea School of Art in 1970. He moved to East Anglia in 1974 and began exhibiting at the Acme Gallery in Covent Garden. The galleries he has shown in on a regular basis most recently are Jill Bishop Contemporary Art and Horace Blue in Norwich. Since 1989 he and his wife have had a picture framing business, Halo Frames, in Harleston, Norfolk.

An initial interest in systems-based processes remains, but a purist approach to Constructivist tenets has been rejected in favour of a more playful examination of serendipity. Conceptual and practical collaging comes in handy here, as well as the usual tricks of chance, invented games, and gentle strictures. From this ground a visual language is developed that hopefully asks questions of itself.
